JIM COBB writes books, magazine articles, and other content related to disaster readiness, emergency preparedness, and self-reliance. He is the author of 11 books, all traditionally published.

His Prepper’s Long-Term Survival Guide has been one of the top-ranked titles in Amazon’s Survival & Emergency Preparedness category since it was published in 2014. His first book, Prepper’s Home Defense, held the #1 spot in Amazon’s Security How-To & Home Improvement for several years after it was published in 2012.

Cobb is the Editor-in-Chief for Prepper Survival Guide and Backwoods Survival Guide magazines, a role he’s held since both magazines began in 2017. Prepper Survival Guide is a quarterly publication and Backwoods Survival Guide comes out six times a year. Both are published by A360 Media and are distributed throughout the United States and a bit into Canada.

He has also written for most of the other magazines in the survival/prepper niche, including RECOIL OFFGRID, American Survival Guide, Survivor’s Edge, and Knives Illustrated.

Cobb has appeared on television a few times to promote disaster planning. He’s participated in several interviews for print and podcasts as well.

He was a featured instructor for the Make Ready to Survive video series created by Panteao Productions. Cobb also consulted with Cyalume Industries for their Sustain Supply line of survival kits.

Over the years, he has developed a reputation for providing down to earth, realistic, and practical information and advice, free of scare tactics, wild predictions, or political agenda.

The father of three sons, Cobb lives in southern Wisconsin with his wife and their menagerie of animals.
